Path to Purchasing Your New Home

1. HomeFundMe is here to help.

Use your Facebook or email address to create a user account for Home Fund Me. We recommend connecting your Facebook account to your Home Fund Me account to facilitate seamless social sharing.

2. Get prequalified.

Complete the online application to get your prequalification. This is a standard first step in the mortgage loan origination process. A prequalification will give you a better idea of how much you can afford, and how much your down payment will need to be. If you do not feel comfortable filling out the application online, you will be prompted to schedule a call with a Fundraising Coach who will connect you with a Loan Officer. You can complete your application over the phone and get any other questions answered.

3. Build your campaign.

Write a summary of your goals and publish updates to share your story. Upload images that help others get to know you or even showcase your dream home. You also have the option to film and share an “Intro” video. We recommend adding visual content like images and video to give potential contributors a better idea of who you are and what you are trying to do.

4. Share your story.

Social sharing is as easy as a few clicks, especially if you integrated your account with your Facebook page. Share your campaign on social networks and through direct messaging to connect with your friends and family.

5. Learn about the mortgage process.

Meet your mortgage team! The Fundraising Coach is here to help you with campaign strategies and to walk you through the home buying process. The Loan Officer guides you through the mortgage financing process, including any down payment assistant resources you might be able to leverage. Home Fund Me also provides numerous educational opportunities so you know what to expect throughout the process. Having someone on your side helps you navigate the various steps and be prepared for a timely closing.

6. Start shopping.

When your campaign is active, you will have 12 months to close on your new home. We recommend launching your campaign when you are ready to start shopping! Once you receive your first gift your timeline starts.

7. Purchase your new home.

When you reach your campaign goal, your funds will be ready to apply toward your new home purchase
